Integrated Yoga Psychotherapy

I am a trainee integrated psychotherapist working in the field of holistic well-being. I originally trained as a yoga teacher, then as a yoga therapist and have found that naturally my progression has gone to psychotherapy, seeing as yoga is essentially a psychological practice. I work holistically with clients in a very broad, person centred way with my work being core Rogerian enquiry skills, mindfulness, movement and breath work for emotional regulation, and acceptance and compassion-based practices. I like to think of myself as walking with clients, side by side, helping them navigate tricky periods of their lives. I am very much trauma informed and work holistically to support clients to face their specific situations as appropriate. I am now adding further psychotherapy skills through my current IYP training so I can offer more comprehensive support, including talk therapy as appropriate.

I believe we are all born with our own innate power. Sadly this power often gets knocked out of us by society and life experiences. It is my aim and passion to help people to reconnect to themselves to that power, regaining their own personal responsibility and live a life of eudaemonic flourishing. I am a member of NCIP and CNHC.

I welcome clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please use the contact form on this website and I will get back to you asap

What is Integrated Yoga Psychotherapy?

Yoga Psychotherapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through yoga practices and psychotherapeutic approaches.

It is an approach to health and healing based on the interconnectedness of mind, body, energy and spirit. It recognises that each of these layers is affected by what happens to us in our lives and each has a role to play in supporting us to move towards healing and wholeness. It combines the ancient wisdom traditions and practices of yoga with modern understandings from neuroscience, physiology and psychotherapy to provide a supportive and compassionate environment for transformation. The foundation of Yoga Psychotherapy is a person-centred approach to healing, though it also integrates other psychotherapy approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Yoga Psychotherapy sessions are highly individualised and are based on the goals of each person. Goals are identified in the first session and will be reviewed and updated as the sessions progress. Practices to support these goals may include talking therapy, physical movements, breath techniques, meditation and mindfulness and yoga philosophy. These are underpinned by the core therapeutic qualities of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.
